George Irwin
Founder and President Green Living Technologies International, LLC – GLTCannabis

As the Founder and President of Green Living Technologies International, LLC (GLTI) and its GLTCannabis subsidiary, George Irwin is recognized around the globe as the leading authority within the global green movement. For two decades, Irwin has pioneered technology in the design and manufacture of green roofs, green walls and vertical farms. Now, through his patented and patent-pending GLTI Vertical Cultivation System (VCS)®, Irwin is revolutionizing the medical and recreational cannabis industries.

The advent and explosion of the cannabis industry within the United States has created a need for experts, like Irwin, whose lifelong career in agriculture has created the expertise needed to apply groundbreaking science to this growth industry. “I didn’t plan on growing marijuana, marijuana and hemp just found me,” says Irwin, who experienced the challenges and opportunities within the medical marijuana industry firsthand when his son, a cancer survivor, came to rely on cannabis oil as a key part of his alternative treatment.

Irwin’s experience in the field, research skills and knowledge of growing media, plants, compost and biological organisms are key to the success of the Vertical Cultivation System, a turn-key indoor agricultural system that far surpasses the industry in yield per square foot and watt. GLTI’s permanent and portable Vertical Cultivation Systems, which allow for controlled, year-round growth with organic cannabis production that yields up to 10 times the traditional bench techniques, higher CBD /THC profiles and dense terpene profiles, recently led to Irwin’s GLTI company to receive a Hemp producing license from the State of New York.

Irwin’s rapid success following the development of the Vertical Cultivation System is not limited to the marijuana and hemp industries. Irwin has parlayed this state-of-the-art, one-of-a-kind quick grow, high yield, low cost, industry leading technology into the vertical farming system for New York State and Governor Cuomo’s Vital Brooklyn’s 100 Percent Affordable Housing $578 Million Initiative to Create 4,000 Homes in Central Brooklyn.

Irwin’s roots as the Founder and President of GLTI were planted in working with renowned architects, designers and engineers around the world to bring organic beauty and environmental benefits to their visions and projects. For 20 years, he has continually made strides and innovative technological breakthroughs that have made GLTI the company of choice for colossal and innovative green projects in 13 countries around the world. These include Hawaii’s largest green living wall in the Ward Village’s Anaha Tower and Major League Baseball’s largest Batter’s Eye at the Minnesota Twins’ Target Field in Downtown Minneapolis, MN.

A published author as well as featured industry editor, Irwin is the expert resource and authority on green technologies around the globe. TIME, Newsweek, Fortune Magazine, Profit Magazine, National Geographic, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, CNN, CBS, NBC and Good Morning America are among the major media outlets that have recognized Irwin for his contributions to the development of green roofs, green wall and vertical farming, and his contributions to the blossoming marijuana and hemp industries.

A passionate, self-taught entrepreneur and engineer, Irwin holds a degree in education from SUNY Brockport, while serving as the recognized leader in Green STEM Education. In that teaching is his first love, Irwin personally oversees all green wall, green roof and vertical farming education within GLTI, infusing state-of-the-art technology into an always evolving curriculum while helping to certify hundreds of experts in green roofs, green walls, vertical farming, Ag, installation and maintenance. His zest for teaching and deep love of the environment has led Irwin to develop educational partnerships with the New York City Department of Education and a host of universities and colleges throughout the country.

Through it all, the scientific breakthroughs in research and development; the patented technology and projects in the areas of green living and cannabis; the contributions in the field of education, Irwin has remained committed to the mission and core values on which GLTI and GLTCannabis were founded. Today, as with every day stretching back over the last two decades, Irwin has worked to provide economic development and well-paying employment opportunities in all of the communities in which he operates and grows, while educating, bringing comfort to those in medical need and safeguarding the environment in which we live.
